Your 12 month appointment

This page is about your second (12 month) appointment if you are already taking part in the NHS-Galleri trial

Your second appointment for the NHS-Galleri trial will take place around 12 months after your first appointment.

The appointment will last around 15 minutes and should take place at a mobile clinic near you. You’ll be asked to give a blood sample and complete some surveys about your health.

When to book your appointment

You will be sent a letter when it is time to book your 12 month appointment.

Book your appointment

When you book your appointment, you can let the trial team know if you need help, such as interpreter/sign language services or help to access the mobile clinic.

Appointments are available from 8:00am to 7:30pm, Monday to Friday.

You will be offered a £10 voucher as a thank you for your time.

If you’ve moved home since registering for the trial, please update your contact address. This will help the trial team send you a reminder letter when it’s time to book your next appointment. You can do this at any time before booking your next appointment.

You do not have to attend your 12 month appointment if you do not want to, but by attending all your appointments you will be helping research to understand how to offer the Galleri blood test to people in the future. If you decide not to attend, this will not affect your normal medical care and you do not have to give a reason why. You will remain in the trial and your medical data will be collected as agreed in your consent form. If you would like to stop this data collection, or if you want to leave the trial (withdraw), please contact the trial team.

Why it is important to attend your appointment

You will be invited to attend three appointments over two years, about 12 months apart.

By attending all your appointments, you will be helping research to understand how to offer the Galleri® blood test to people in the future. The blood sample you provide at each appointment will form an important part of the research.

Checking the trial is still right for you

If you have been treated for cancer in the last year, you may not need to attend your 12 month appointment to give another blood sample. Please contact the trial team and ask to speak to the study nurse to check if you need to attend your appointment.

If you do not need to give another blood sample, you will remain in the trial and your health information will continue to be collected to help research.

On the day

Please arrive at the mobile clinic in time for your appointment and wear a face covering. A member of the trial team will:

  • Check you in and confirm your details are correct
  • Take a blood sample

  • Ask you to complete a short survey about your health

You can eat and drink as normal before your blood test

COVID-19 information

Please do not attend your appointment if you have tested positive for COVID-19 or have any symptoms of COVID-19.
